UPDATE: News 3 has learned new details on a high-speed chase that ended with a crash in Columbus.
Authorities tell us the chase began on Highway 240 N. in Marion County. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office tells us they tried to initiate a traffic stop when the green SUV took off.
We’re told the driver led them on a chase through Talbot then Muscogee County. It ended on Macon Road when the driver tried to pass a Marion County deputy’s vehicle, and rammed the passenger side. That’s when the SUV lost control and rolled.

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Three people were injured, one seriously when a police chase ended with a rollover crash.
It happened around 2:30 this afternoon on Macon Road near Cartledge Road. We’re told a green SUV was being chased by another law enforcement agency outside of Muscogee County when the two vehicles made contact. That’s when officials say the vehicle crossed the median and flipped upside down. A male driver and two female passengers were ejected.
Columbus police would not say which other agencies were involved, but both the Talbot and Marion County Sheriff’s Departments were on the scene.
