MERIWETHER COUNTY, Ga — Police are looking for two inmates who they say escaped from Meriwether County Jail Tuesday night.
A release by Chief Deputy Colonel Byron Hadley says 34-year-old Eugene Lamar Mitchell and 29-year-old Travion Terrell Hall escaped from their cell blocks at around 7:30 PM.
Colonel Hadley says Mitchell was last seen in the Rocky Mount Area on Tuesday around 11:00 PM. He also says Mitchell has changed out of his orange jump suit into different clothing while in the Rocky Mount area.
The Sheriff’s Office says they have patrol deputies, K-9 units and investigators as well as outside resources searching for these two escapees.
Mitchell was being held in the jail on charges of child molestation, aggravated child molestation, incest, aggravated sexual battery, statutory rape and burglary. Hall was in jail for a probation violation.
