Sweetland Amphitheatre holds ribbon cutting, free concert

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Sweetland Amphitheatre in LaGrange is celebrating its official ribbon cutting with a free concert for the public Friday evening.

This new venue in LaGrange holds roughly 2200 people and they expect to have all different types of artists perform throughout the year.

The Sweetland Amphitheatre cost about $8 million.

The inaugural summer concert series at Sweetland will have a lineup of artists including Willie Nelson, the Temptations, and the Charlie Daniels Band.

Executive director Becca Eiland says they have already sold out of tickets for some of the concerts.

This amphitheatre was build on Boyd Park.

Annette Boyd – who has passed – is affectionately known as the “Parade Lady” in LaGrange because she started the annual 4th of July Sweet Land of Liberty parade – that’s how they got the name Sweetland Amphitheater.

The Willie Nelson concert sold out in a matter of minutes but there are still other concerts and season tickets available for purchase.
