COLUMBUS, Ga — The soldier who turned himself in to police in connection to a deadly crash on Oglethorpe Bridge last week appears in court this morning.
Fort Benning soldier Justin Prohaska faces charges for second-degree vehicular homicide and two traffic charges.
Prohaska admits to hitting the tail end of Command Sargent Major Thomas Morgan’s Jeep while trying to avoid a stalled vehicle on the bridge. The momentum from the crash sent Morgan’s Jeep over the edge of the bridge. Morgan later died of his injuries at Midtown Medical Center.
Police say they are investigating the scene of the crash today. Both westbound lanes of Oglethorpe Bridge will be blocked.
