PHENIX CITY, Ala.- The five-member Phenix City Council has voted against reappointing board President Brad Baker and Vice President Kelvin Redd to second five-year terms and replaced them with Zoning board member John Donahue and Planning Commission member Will Lawrence.
Mayor Eddie Lowe says the Council votes for who they think will serve best.
Donahue and Lawrence were nominated and approved by a 3-2 vote.
Phenix City school Superintendent Randy Wilkes says he was surprised when Baker and Redd were ousted.
The Mayor made it clear that Baker and Redd didn’t do anything wrong while they served.
“It’s a part of doing the business so we are just giving the chance for other people a chance to serve,” Maylor Lowe.
Although Lawrence and Donahue won the votes from Council Tuesday, the Board will meet in May to vote and determine who the President and Vice President will be for the upcoming year.
