LOS ANGELES, Ca — California Governor Jerry Brown is set to sign a bill into law that will raise the state minimum wage.
Lawmakers say the bill will make California the first state in the country with a $15 per hour minimum wage.
The bill will make sure the wage slowly rises from its current $10 per hour over the next six years.
New York lawmakers have also made a deal to eventually raise the state’s minimum wage to $15 per hour.
Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle are on the list of US cities and counties that have already approved the $15 per hour minimum.
