COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Red Cross of West Central Georgia held its Hometown Heroes Breakfast Wednesday morning.
Local heroes include a sheriff’s deputy, a Columbus High School student, a Columbus Police officer, a preacher, and a teacher among others. The Red Cross says the eight very deserving community members who exemplified the ideals of the American Red Cross by serving those around them and their profession above and beyond the call of duty.
“I was honored to be able to honor them. It was a privilege to be able to honor them today. Each one of them pulled a string in my heart that they a fabulous people that go above and beyond. I am inspired on what they did and what they do in their daily lives inspires me.” Said Adelaide Kirk.
In the past ten years, awards have been presented to children, adults, organizations, and civic groups.
