This Valentine’s weekend’s forecast is one to fall in love with. And whether you’re a fan of the holiday or not, there are still plenty of outdoor activities going on.
Grab a bite to eat of Mardi Gras style street food at Food Truck Friday. Make it a family outing or date night from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. est at Chattahoochee Brewing Company in Phenix City.
You can help keep our river beautiful and litter-free by volunteering to clean it up Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. est! Bags and gloves will be provided.
Active or retired military can join Team RWB and enjoy disc golf, a cook-out and bonfire at Flat Rock Park in Columbus Saturday! For more information about Team RWB or to join → http://www.teamrwb.org/
And for those looking for a fun Valentine’s date – head up to FDR State Park for a one to two hour guided horseback ride Sunday from 10 am to 4pm. Picnic lunches are welcome.
You can also enjoy Valentine’s Day with your fury best friend at the Holiday Bark Walk from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon at FDR State Park.
This weekend’s highlighted event is the tree top canopy tour at Oxbow Meadows – where you can walk among the trees and check out the wild life on Saturdays.
“We offer the canopy tour three times every Saturday. One at 11:00 a.m., one at 2:00 p.m. and one at 5:00 p.m. est. We do ask that people call ahead because slots fill up pretty quickly. People need to be four feet tall. It’s 5 dollars a person and we ask that you wear closed toe shoes,” says Oxbow Meadows Environmental Educator and Park Technician Kerstin Motsch.
“The first reaction is “Oh my goodness, this is so scary! But in all honesty, it is completely safe. It does get your adrenaline going though because you are high up and when it’s really windy the bridges sway, but it is a really beautiful site. A great view.”
