PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Callaway Gardens will admit all guests for free to pay homage to its founder, Virginia Hand Callaway, on Sunday, February 21.
Callaway was a native of Pelham, Georgia, where she loved to spend time in the outdoors. She became so acquainted with native plants that she was often called a “self-taught botanist.” Callaway was later able to apply this knowledge as she and her husband Cason worked to restore the depleted cotton fields, today known as The Gardens at Callaway, with plants indigenous to west-central Georgia.
To mark the occasion, guests can enjoy an organ concert from Noon to 4 p.m. at the Ida Cason Callaway Memorial Chapel.
Callaway Gardens is in Pine Mountain, Georgia, 60 minutes southwest of Atlanta and 30 minutes north of Columbus. For additional information, call 800.463.6990 or visit www.callawaygardens.com.
