INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An adult died and two children were seriously injured when a school bus jumped a curb on the far northeast side of Indianapolis Tuesday afternoon, police say.
A school spokesperson said the crash happened at Amy Beverland Elementary School, near the intersection of Fox Road and Oaklandon Road.
Two 10-year-olds were seriously injured, an Indianapolis Fire Department spokesperson said.
The children have non life-threatening injuries, IFD said.
The school bus lurched over a curb for an unknown reason and hit the adult and two children, IFD said.
The driver and 25 students on board were not injured.
The school spokesperson described the crash as “very serious.”
Parents are being asked to pick up their kids at the school.
Emergency crews were called to the scene around 2:45 p.m.
Amy Beverland Elementary School is in the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township.
