Alabama District 80 seat up for grabs in special election

RUSSELL COUNTY, Ala. – Polls are open in the race for Alabama District 80 seat. The special election will decide who will fill the seat left vacant after the death of State Representative Lesley Vance. Vance died last November after an extended illness.

There are three Republicans in the running Chris Blackshear, James McGill, and Tommy Pugh.

Currently there is not a Democratic challenger.

If a candidate does not win the majority, a runoff will take place March 1st between the top two who received the most votes.

The winner would not take office until April 13.
