The Glenwood Gators have a new hero. Down by two with time expiring in overtime on Thursday, Teri Hodge threw up a three pointer that won the game for the Lady Gators over their rivals Lee-Scott.
Hodge says her coach drew up a play for her to bring it up and pass it into the post, but, that never happened.
The ball went through the hoop and the students, fans, and team all celebrated. Hodge found it to be a little redemption from their game last year at home against the Warriors.
“It was exciting. I knew then we had the game and it was over. The first thing I thought was that it was payback for last year because last year when they played here they beat us by one with only a couple of seconds left and the girl scored it on me,” Hodge said.
Hodge says the win was definitely sweeter because it came against Lee-Scott. She says students called her name out at school all day for sinking the buzzer beater. The Lady Warriors don’t have to wait long for potential payback. The two teams play for the final game of the regular season at Lee-Scott next Thursday.
