Fire destroys home on 27th Street

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Columbus Fire and EMS responded to a fire in the 1500 block of 27th Street Wednesday, January 6th.

When they arrived on the scene they found a two-story wood framed house on fire. They tell us no one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries reported.

The home was completely destroyed and was caused by improper wood in a charcoal grill in a bedroom.

There were no working smoke detectors inside the home.

Red Cross was on the scene of the fire to assist.


ORIGINAL STORY: COLUMBUS, Ga. – A fire destroyed a home in Columbus Wednesday morning.

The flames broke out in the 1500 block of 27th Street near Lake Bottom Park.

The call came in around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The cause is still under investigation and no injuries were reported.
