A local women’s health clinic is wheeling out a new strategy when it comes to reaching new clients. Sound Choices is revving up the engines of their newest purchase, a $125,000 RV. But the cost doesn’t compare to the services the mobile clinic will provide.
In just a few weeks, women across the Chattahoochee Valley will be afforded free pregnancy tests, ultrasound screenings and counseling sessions wherever they are. Mobile operations manager Shannon Caffee handles client flow at Sound Choices. And at the end of the month, she expects the RV to reach all across Georgia and Alabama, specifically in more remote areas that don’t have access to a health clinic.
“We plan to go to surrounding communities and colleges where they may not be a pregnancy clinic or center nearby,” Caffee said. “So we hope to reach those who aren’t able to come to us. We hope to be able to go to them and provide the services that we offer.”
It’s a testament to the growing demand of women’s health services in the area. Caffee says as soon as nurses are trained in using the equipment in the mobile RV, people will start seeing the mobile clinic rolling around town.
