COLUMBUS, Ga. – Mayor Teresa Tomlinson has given us an update about area flood issues.
According to the mayor, The Corps of Engineers released water at about 38,000 cubic feet per second earlier today. They cut it down to 30,000 cubic feet per second Tuesday afternoon.
This, combined with slightly higher than normal local inflows, caused the city to open one more gate at Oliver. They are up to six gates open now.
The mayor says we shouldn’t see any greater flooding of streets and parks than we have up to this point.
