COLUMBUS, Ga. – A local church hosted a Christmas Dinner Saturday afternoon, hoping to spread Christmas cheer a little early.
This is Antioch Missionary Baptist Church’s third year serving up meals for everyone in the community.
Associate Minister Lane Ogletree-Battle decided to have a community Christmas meal less than a month ago. She hopes this gets the community into the spirit of giving during the Christmas season, especially with recent violence throughtout the world.
“We just want to spread a little joy. Of all the things that’s happening in the world today, people robbing and people killing, and we just want people to remember there is joy in Jesus Christ.” Says Lane Ogletree-Battle
She says the church members really stepped up to the plate. They donated all of the food and the meal was completely homemade. They served everything from turkey to a wide variety of desserts. Ogletree-Battle says her favorite poart of the meal is simply being able to give back to people.
There are more than a dozen of these church members behind me who spent their Saturday afternoon who spent their afternoon feeding the community.
