Opelika Police say a Tallassee, Ala. woman is dead after being seriously injured in a crash Sunday night.
Opelika Police, Opelika Fire, East Alabama Medical Center Emergency Transport Services and Life Flight Air Medical Services all responded to an area just off Interstate 85 North around mile marker 67.5. They say the crash happened just before 7:45 Sunday evening. Officials found a Ford F-150 in the wood line with two people inside. The driver, a 67-year-old woman eventually died of her injuries after she was flown to Midtown Medical Center. Police say her condition is unknown at this time.
OPD says they will not be releasing any names yet until the next of kin of the woman has been notified by the Lee County Coroner’s Office.
OPD’s Traffic Homicide is now investigating the crash, trying to figure out what may have caused the accident. Anyone with additional information should contact the Opelika Police Department at 334-705-5200.
