A local high school is giving their courtyard a face lift. The Mother of Mercy courtyard has graced St. Anne-Pacelli High School for 50 years. But soon, students will see change, a renaissance even, in the area.
First-year Pacelli principal Ronie Collins says the courtyard has been in the same condition since she graduated from the school. Collins is a veteran in the Muscogee County School District, and she is a proponent for immediate aesthetic changes her current high school.
“It’s just time to give it a nice little face lift and do something that the Blessed Mother deserves,” Collins said.
Collins tells News 3 about 400 people walk through the courtyard. However, years of wear and tear have taken their toll on the popular spot. Students will help redesign the courtyard. During the beautification process, students will still be able to walk through the courtyard.
Collins says the renovations will cost about $4,000-5,000.
St. Anne-Pacelli expects nearly 200 people to pack a special fundraising dinner featuring motivational speaker and author Barbara Dooley, the wife of legendary Georgia head football coach Vince Dooley. That dinner is Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
The new changes should be completed by the end of November.
