COLUMBUS, Ga. – Family and friends are mourning the loss of an award-winning paramedic. 44-year-old Pam Boles passed away this weekend after she suffered a massive heart attack and stroke.
Hilah Smith has been friends with Boles for the past decade. She went to EMT and paramedic school with Boles.
“She was one of those paramedics that you would definitely want to work on one of your family members. She was very patient oriented. Very compassionate,” Smith said.
Dennis Poole worked very closely with Boles’s husband, Rodney, who was also a paramedic. Poole said even with their everyday job duties, there is no way to prepare yourself for the loss of a loved one.
“We live and see life and death everyday and then to turn around and it hits home. It’s not what we plan on doing,” Poole said.
Boles was a paramedic for 12 years. She was a school teacher before she started working in emergency services.
