OXFORD, Miss. (WJTV) – The University of Mississippi’s Faculty Senate voted in favor of a joint passage of a resolution asking the school’s administration to remove the Mississippi state flag from campus.
The vote came down Thursday, according to The Daily Mississippian Online. It passed 41-1.
The Faculty Senate’s vote comes just two days after the Associated Student Body voted in favor of a resolution calling to remove the flag.
According to The DM Online, since the resolution passed ASB Tuesday night, several campus organizations have shown their support for removing the flag.
Neither the ASB nor Faculty Senate vote is binding.
University of Mississippi administrators must determine whether or not to officially remove the Mississippi state flag from the campus.
