Remembering leader of local Hispanic community

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Members from different parts of the community gathered at Millie’s International Market Wednesday evening to remember the former owner.  Harold “Lefty” Encarnacion was a well-known local grocery store and leader in Columbus’s Hispanic community.

Lefty was diagnosed with a liver disease a few months.  One of his former employees, Gloria Crespo, says she is forever grateful to Lefty after Crespo her very first job.

“He just didn’t know the impact that he showed us so from me to him we’re going to miss Lefty a lot.  His smile, his charisma, his attitude and his food,” Crespo said.

The crowd gathered with candles and stories to tell about Lefty.  Crespo encouraged music and singing from the crowd because Left always loved listening to music.

Arrangements for a funeral have not been announced yet.
