This week we honor the undefeated Kendrick Lady Cherokees volleyball team whose 15-0 record is one of the best in the state.
When Kendrick coach Sterling Hicks took over the school’s volleyball team. He actually envisioned the young ladies one day being as good as they are.
So far this season, the Lady Cherokees haven’t lost a game and have already qualified for the state playoffs.
“I always expect to win every time I play anything I expect to win. I’ve done it before going undefeated so it’s something that you put it into your kids’ heads that it can be done and they start to believe it. So far, so good,” Hicks said.
“The only thing we try not to do is get complacent. We basically got to work hard still to put forth effort in practice,” said senior Brittany Thompson.
These young ladies know that whether its volleyball or basketball they have to work extremely hard in practice.
Now we are just trying to get focused and get ready for Rockmart. Last season, we finished runner up to them in the area. Hopefully the outcome will be a little different than it was last season.
So whether it’s in the weight room or on the court you’ll always find the Lady Cherokee volleyball team giving it their all.
And we’re proud to honor them as our Headquarter Nissan Athletes of the Week.
