Friends and family are mourning the loss of 22-year-old Ivy Gunter after she was killed in an early Wednesday morning crash on J.R. Allen Parkway.

Hunter Ames taught Gunter for three years at Smiths Station High School a few years ago.  He said there was never a dull moment when Gutner was around.

Ames feels bad for all of the people who never got the chance to meet her.  He tells News 3 his heart dropped when he heard the news of her death.

“It’s a tough day today.  It was hard holding back tears while I was teaching today in my classroom and you know Ivy was special.  She was friends and family.  She left a mark on you,” Ames said.

Police said Gunter lost control of her car and crossed into another lane hitting another car.
