The Central High Red Devils are on a roll heading into another big game this weekend against Opelika.
The Red Devils performance last Friday night against Prattville has earned them our Headquarter Nissan Athletes of the Week award.
The Central Red Devils had a lot a lot of questions to answer as they headed into the 2015 season. Many of those questions have been answered following the Devils’ 20-10 win over a strong Prattville Lions’ team.
The Red Devils defense turned in big plays in that game all night long while the offense was led once again by quarterback Quan Weaver, wide receiver Jamal Couch, and running back Jaxton Carson who scored two touchdowns to help the Red Devils notch their fourth win of the season.
“The team went out and played, you know a team effort. That’s what it is all about. To win a game like that, you have got to have, a lot of people bought in from the week of practice. You have got to have great look teams giving you a tremendous look,” Dubose said. “You have got to have a tremendous job by your special teams and all around. So, it was a total team effort from every phase of the game and a wonderful outing. It’s a great fan win. Our fans did an outstanding job. So, I’m really proud of our community, and our school, and our football program.”
You would think that after such a big win over a team like Prattville that the Devils would have a little time to celebrate. Not so as the Red Devils prepare to take on their arch nemesis from right up highway 280, the Opelika Bulldogs.
“Two big ball games back to back, we’ll really have prepared this week well. We are going to have to go into the game once again and play a four quarter game, win all three phases of the game and try to come out victorious,” Dubose said.
And so the Red Devils are doing what they need to do in practice this week to get ready for Opelika.
Meanwhile, they will indeed have the momentum armed with our Headquarter Nissan Athletes of the Week award.
