PHENIX CITY, Ala.- When CVCC Interim President, Mark Ellard and Executive Director of the Alabama Fire College, Allan Rice put pen to paper Monday afternoon, it made the partnership between CVCC and Alabama Fire College official.
As a result of this new partnership, students at CVCC and fire/emergency personnel can earn college credit for an associate of applied science in fire science and fire and emergency certification at the national and state level. At the same time, the community college can offer development opportunities by way of the Alabama Fire College.
Allan Rice of the Alabama Fire College says it is a major priority for them to promote higher education for firefighters across the state, he also says “this will broaden a firefighters career options exponentially. This will give them the opportunity to earn higher pay because of the incentives that go along with having a college degree, but it will also give them greater opportunities to be promoted throughout their entire career.”
Casey Jones is an EMS Student at CVCC and he says he is honored to be a part of these opportunities and that it will make him a more valuable candidate.
