The Georgia Bulldogs are currently unbeaten this season, but Dawg Nation mourns a different kind of loss after learning that one of the coaches’ sisters was found dead.

According to Blount county Sheriff’s Office, a friend found 36-year-old Rasha Sherrer shot dead in her home. Sherrer is the sister of linebackers coach Kevin Sherrer.

The University of Georgia Athletic Association released a statement in response to Coach Sherrer’s loss:

“Georgia assistant football coach Kevin Sherrer expresses his
appreciation for the thoughts,  prayers, and messages of sympathy in the
loss of his sister.  He is also grateful for the respect of the family’s
privacy during this time.”

Head coach Mark Richt says Coach Sherrer and his wife left Athens to be with his family. Richt says Sherrer can take as much time as he needs until he decides to rejoin the team.

Another man, 43-year-old Gary Hazelrig, was also found dead in the same house. Officials say the two were a couple and that the investigation will proceed as a double homicide. They don’t yet have a motive in the shooting.
