COLUMBUS, Ga. – Lesa Wafford became the first-ever student to receive the Georgia Military College Columbus Colonel Snodgrass Memorial Scholarship on Spetember 10, 2015. The newly created scholarship is to commemorate the late Colonel David Snodgrass and his influence on Georgia Military College Columbus. “He was a lifelong learner,” said General Curt Rauhut, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Georgia Military College.
The award was given to Ms. Wafford based on demonstrated need, two recommendation letters, and a personal essay written about her educational goals. During the presentation she reiterated that she wants to use her college education to go into obstetrics and gynecology, with the ultimate goal being to open her own private practice. Along with being a full-time student and a member of the United States military, Wafford is raising her 6-year-old son. “She couldn’t imagine someone more deserving.” says Mrs. Snodgrass.
