Hit and run in Lee County, victim suffered minor injuries

LEE COUNTY, Ala. – According to Captain Jackson with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, he confirmed with News 3 that, Wednesday August 26th sheriff’s responded to a hit and run incident on Lee County Road 243 in Smiths Station.

Jackson says three teenage boys were jogging on 243 when a vehicle hit one of the teens. The vehicle was traveling approximately 40 MPH when it struck the jogger, knocking him into a ditch.

The vehicle fled the scene. The car is described as a 4-door sedan maroon Saturn sedan. It was driven by white male, and occupied by three females.

The 18-year-old victim was transported to Midtown Medical Center where he was treated and released for minor injuries.

He suffered from soreness in one of his arms and possible internal pain, but no life-threatening injuries.
