Columbus man arrested after trying to steal car, threatening to shoot witness

Officers have arrested a Columbus man on burglary charges after they say he stole a car and threatened to shoot a woman.

Columbus Police say William Watson tried to steal a 2013 Hyundai Genesis from the Grease Monkey Auto Shop, located on Veterans Parkway.

Watson, 56, allegedly threatened to shoot a witness and tried to punch them. He is currently being held in Muscogee County Jail.

Police have charged Watson with second degree burglary.
