Some local couples worked on building their relationships this morning in a special way.
The 4th annual Amazing Marriage Chase, organized by Right from the Start, is a unique challenge that pits married or engaged couples in a scavenger hunt. Right from the Start is a division of the Pastoral Institute.
The goal of the chase is to strengthen relationships between couples while giving them a fun and adventurous release. The scavenger hunt featured 15 different stations in Uptown Columbus. Different tasks included making pancakes, riding a two-seater bike and eating Popsicle.
The Ramroop’s have been married for six years, and this is their third year participating in the marriage chase.
“We’re a big supporter of any tools or any kind of education that can better our marriage,” said Mahesh Ramroop. “So we like a lot of the games out here, we like to share with our friends and we like to compete and be on the same team together.”
The couple says they want to set a good example for their two sons and show them that marriage can be fun.
“[We] try to stress the importance of a healthy marriage because we really want them to have healthy marriages and doing stuff like this, marriage can be fun you know there’s a lot myths out there, but marriage is fun. Stuff like this is fun and they get to see that.”
Overall, couples had an hour and a half to complete the challenges. Each challenge was worth a designated amount of points. The couples could also decide from the fair assortment of activities which ones they wanted to do.
For putting their relationships to the fire, the top finishing couple received a charbroiled grill. Each participating couple got a bag filled with frosty towels and other goodies.
