COLUMBUS, Ga.- On Monday, former president George W. Bush and family will be coming to Columbus to speak. The event is a part of Columbus State’s Jim Blanchard Leadership Forum. This will mark the 10 year anniversary of the event.
The sold-out event will be bringing back speakers from previous years to talk over the two days the event covers. In addition to the Bush family; Gen. Stanley McChrystal, Pulitzer Prize- winning author and historian Doris Kearns Goodwin and others will be speaking.
One of Bush’s daughters, Barbara is expected to interview the family during event and then it will be followed by a Q & A session with the audience.
CSU says that those attending the event must have their ticket and id with them to get in. Secret Service, CSU Police, Muscogee County Sheriffs, Columbus Police are expected to be in attendance making sure the event is secured. “From a personal point of view and for the university, you never want something bad to happen on your watch,” CSU Executive Director of Leadership Development Ed Helton said. “You wanna feel like you took the proper steps that you need to take to ensure the safety of everyone.”
