Fort Benning beefing up gate security

Big changes for Fort Benning security.

FORT BENNING, Ga. – In a press release this morning the Army details several major changes effective August 23rd they say will make the post more secure:

One of those major changes is closing the gate at Sand Hill and Benning Blvd. off North Custer Road. They say by making this change they will be providing better protection for the folks living in the Patton Village  area.

Also a fence will be installed to stop foot traffic near White Elementary School and Sand Hill personnel.

They also state in the release that ACP will make changes on the weekends to allow for greater access, based on traffic studies. These new hours on Saturdays and Sundays will be from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
