MUSCOGEE COUNTY, Ga.- Last week, News 3 reported how the Muscogee County School District is looking for more bus drivers. In addition to searching for bus drivers, the district is looking for more teachers.
On Monday, according to the district, there were 28 teaching vacancies. As of Wednesday, the number of vacancies is at 14 or 15.
The district says these vacancies are an unfortunate reality, and they can be caused by relocations, retirements and resignations. The district says they have openings in math, science and special education among other subjects. Those in charge of the hiring have an idea of who they want to fill the open positions. Chief Human Resource Officer of the district, Kathy Tessin says they are looking for, “good preparation in the content field that’s needed and then someone that can build relationships, really has a heart for helping children learn, that patience and that desire to take that child from where they are at when they come into the school building and try to take them further along that path of learning.”
Tessin says these vacancies are scattered throughout the district, but they hope to fill the positions as soon as possible.
