Homeless man found dead under bridge, police investigate possible homicide

Columbus Police are investigating a possible homicide after they say they found a homeless man dead in a tent on Second Avenue overnight Sunday.

Police first discovered the body of William Edwards around 1:30 Sunday morning. Muscogee County Coroner Freeman Worly pronounced Edwards dead at 2:05 a.m. Sunday.

Coroner Buddy Bryan believes that Edwards, 56, died from blunt-force trauma to the head. His body has been taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta for an autopsy.
