News 3 was on the scene Monday morning when a fire broke out at a home in the 3000 block of 9th Street in Columbus. Fire Chief Ricky Shores says the fire started just before 3 a.m.
Firefighters were on scene battling the blaze as neighbors gathered outside their homes. The flames consumed about 1500 sq. ft. in total, doing around $40,000 in damage.
Shores believes the flames were concentrated in the attic and could have stemmed from an electrical issue. He also told News 3 that no one was injured because the house was vacant at the time of the fire, undergoing renovations.
Shores is calling the house a complete loss. However, he does not suspect foul play in the blaze.
