ATLANTA, Ga. (AP) – Atlanta city officials, business leaders and others are expected to be on hand for the unveiling of Ted Turner Drive at Historic Spring Street in downtown Atlanta.
City leaders earlier this year approved of renaming a roughly 1.5 mile stretch of Spring Street after Turner, a media mogul and philanthropist. The unveiling ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Officials say the move was meant to honor Turner’s cultural and economic contributions to Atlanta. Officials say several of Turner’s notable contributions to the city – including the CNN Center, Turner Broadcast System and Ted’s Montana Grill – are near the portion of the street being named after him.
