After being diagnosed with leukemia, Lee County based fundraising site, Fund Some Fun, launched a campaign for Liam Ledbetter-Dunn which raised 500 dollars in just two days.
The money was well-spent Tuesday, used to send Liam on a shopping spree at Toys R Us. But the shopping spree was not always a sure thing.
“The doctors didn’t think it would be a good idea to have him around crowds of people, and plus he didn’t feel up to it,” said Brian Ledbetter, Liam’s father.
Luckily, Liam’s health improved and doctors gave him a thumbs up to hit the toy store. He picked out a new ride, some trains ready to chug along the tracks with a little help from his dads to get it up into his cart.
The tag-team laughed and shopped together giving the family some time to forget about cancer for a while and enjoy life.
“It was a great opportunity for him to be a kid again, you know he has had a lot of things happen to him over the past month,” said Shane Dunn, Liam’s father.
The day ended with snacks and cupcakes and one excited two-year-old, ready to roll.
“So this is still not at his full capacity, but we are slowly seeing it come back,” said Dunn.
