UPDATE: William Spaulding appears in court before a judge Monday for shooting his 57-year-old mother Saturday. Court records show Spaulding says he shot his mother because she wouldn’t stop “bothering him.” Spaulding’s mother is listed in critical condition. The man Spaulding shot at is also identified as his uncle.
COLUMBUS, GA — A man is now behind bars after a shooting this past weekend left a woman in critical condition.
William Spaulding has been charged with aggravated assault, among other charges, in connection with the shooting. Police say Spaulding, 27, was arrested in a shooting on Aldora Drive Saturday. Authorities say a woman was shot in the driveway of her home shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday.
The victim is listed in critical condition at Midtown Medical Center. A 54-year-old man was also shot at during the incident, but police say he was not injured.
Spaulding is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court at 2 p.m. Monday.
