Family asking for help to find missing Columbus woman

UPDATE 7/6: A local business is offering a reward for the return of missing Nancy “Renee” Eldridge. A representative with Chastain Properties says they are offering $5,000.

They also issued the following statement: The Chastain Properties family of employees and residents are very concerned about the disappearance of Renee Eldridge. We are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to Renee’s safe return. If you have any information that detectives need to know please call 706-653-3400. We are cooperating in every way with local officials who are actively searching for her, and hope that she will be found soon. Our continuing thoughts are with her family throughout this ordeal.

News 3 spoke to Columbus Police to see how they are handling this case.

“We are pounding the pavement,” Lieutenant Joyce Dent-Fitzpatrick said. “We’re taking phone calls. We’re basically doing it as we would with every missing person; doing a lot of recon work trying to track the last people she talked with, the last places she was located and just looking at some things that are out of the ordinary.”

PREVIOUS REPORTING: The Special Victims Unit is investigating the disappearance of a 25-year-old Columbus woman.  Police say Nancy Eldridge, known by her family as Renee, has been missing since Saturday morning.

Authorities say Eldridge was last seen by her friends when they dropped her off at her home at 3 a.m. Saturday.  Nicole Eldridge, Renee’s sister, said her mother came home at 10:30 Saturday morning and noticed her daughter was missing.

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Renee lives in the house with her mother.  Her mother said the front door was locked and bolted from the inside, but the back door was left open. She said Renee’s keys and cellphone were inside the house.

Family members said they are worried about Renee’s safety.

“I’m frustrated. I’m hurt. I’m scared. I’m almost feeling hopeless at this point. I just want somebody just to help us. Help us find her,” Nicole said.

Police said Eldridge was last seen wearing black shorts and a black tank top with white stripes.  They said she had on black and silver sandals.

Renee is a 5-foot-7 white woman with blue eyes.  She has dark hair with red tips.

Renee has a rose tattoo on her right shoulder, an anchor tattoo on her left forearm, and a black butterfly tattoo on her right hip.  She also has “courage” and “faith” tattoos on her index fingers.
