A man is facing armed robbery charges after police say he held up a convenience store over the weekend.

Police say the incident happened at the Circle K in the 3000 block of Buena Vista Road Saturday afternoon around 4 p.m. Authorities say Joe Foster brandished his weapon inside the store and proceeded to rob the clerk on duty. Police say the suspect then ran away from the Circle K heading towards Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Foster was later apprehended after a witness followed him behind Brewer Elementary School.

A background check indicates that Foster is a convicted felon in both Georgia and Alabama.

Foster, 43, now faces several charges, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and during a crime.
