BESSEMER, Ala. (AP) – Authorities say a woman and two children have been found shot to death in the small community of McCalla outside Birmingham.
Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies were called to a home shortly before 7 PM Sunday, after relatives discovered the bodies.
Sgt. Jack Self says relatives hadn’t heard from the family all weekend, so they went to check on them. Authorities say the family members found an adult female and two children shot to death.
Their names haven’t been released by authorities; however Al.com says relatives have identified the victims as 49-year-old Doris Jean Hutcheson, 14-year-old Kimberly Hutcheson, and 12-year-old Peyton Hutcheson.
Authorities say 47-year-old husband Steve “Hut” Hutcheson was not at the home, and had not been located as of 12:45 AM and the family’s silver Dodge Stratus is also missing. The license plate for the car is 1AS7156.
No arrests had been made as of late Sunday.
Jefferson County Assistant Sheriff Mike Logan asks people to pray for the family and the people working at the crime scene.
McCalla is about 20 miles southwest of Birmingham.
