A release by an Atlanta megachurch’s board of directors says it is moving forward in a campaign to buy a private jet.

The board of directors for World Changers Church International and Creflo Dollar Ministries says in a statement released yesterday that the Gulfstream G650 jet that pastor Creflo Dollar wants is necessary to continue international ministry and aid work. The jet is valued at more than $65 million.

The board of directors says, “A long-range, high-speed, intercontinental jet aircraft is a tool that is necessary in order to fulfill the mission of the ministry. We plan to acquire a Gulfstream G650 because it is the best, and it is a reflection of the level of excellence at which this organization chooses to operate.”

Pastor Creflo Dollar came under fire earlier this year over the original video released for the G650 project. Critics say Dollar’s request for a $300 donation per person to fund the $65 million jet as well as his gospels were “all about him.”

The release by Dollar says, “We fully acknowledge that the campaign video did not do a good job of communicating the request, and we apologize for any confusion it may have caused.”

The release further says the video is being “revamped” and will be re-released when it is finished.
