Deidre Johnson co-anchors News 3 This Morning and reports for News 3 Midday. She joined the WRBL news team in October 2013. Deidre comes from WXIA-TV in Atlanta, Georgia where she was a writer and traffic producer. She also worked with the NBC affiliate on the 2012 London Olympics coverage. Before working in Atlanta, Deidre was the weekend anchor for WJCL/WTGS in Savannah, Georgia. She also produced the weekend shows and reported during the week. While in Savannah, she had the opportunity to report on the Troy Davis trial. Deidre also worked in Dothan, Alabama as a reporter and anchor where she covered the Enterprise tornado disaster and did reports for the BBC and ABC News in New York.

Deidre's first job in news was as a desk assistant at ABC News in New York. In the Big Apple, she helped with the shows World News Tonight, World News Now, and World News This Morning. It was just months after Deidre started at ABC News when 9/11 happened. She was responsible for assisting the late Peter Jennings with scripts and took calls from people in the towers that morning on the assignment desk. For being part of the ABC News team during 9/11, Deidre won a Peabody and DuPont Award. She was later promoted to production secretary where she produced the clip reels for the overnight news and morning news show.

Deidre Johnson is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. She earned her master's degree in Mass Media Arts and Journalism. She is a member of the Dogwood City Chapter of the Links, Inc. and is a mentor to several aspiring broadcast journalists. Deidre loves to travel and even studied abroad in Australia. She spends her spare time with her husband and helping her toddler son Miles practice his golf swing.
