Amazon.com has announced plans to hire workers to fill seven-thousand new positions across several states.

Five-thousand of the openings are for work at distribution centers. Two-thousand will be hired for customer service positions. The full-time, part-time and seasonal openings are needed to meet growing customer demand.

Amazon says some of the positions pay 30-percent more than traditional retail jobs.

Hiring is expected to start immediately.
